What Training Do We Provide?

Our Workshops; Our Mission

Many of us have encountered the Social Security Administration’s disability application process. We may know someone who has tried, been denied, lost their benefits, or maybe has just given up. The process is complex, lengthy and can be overwhelming to those already suffering from disabling conditions, chronic pain, poverty and lack of access to services. Now imagine that same person experiencing homelessness and perhaps is suffering from severe mental illness trying to navigate the sea of government documents, deadlines and demands without someone to help or even an address to receive mail.

This work is a big missing piece in the social service arena. It is a little-known fact that almost ANYONE can sign on to be a legal representative in a Social Security disability claim. You do NOT have to be an attorney and you CAN win. Our mission is to motivate and empower as many volunteers and professionals as possible to effectively advocate for people with disabilities in their local communities.

Our next Workshop:

Our primary goals of our intensive workshops are to uncover the mysteries surrounding the Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs and provide you with proven strategies for successful applications. By participating in our workshops you will have a much better understanding of the application, eligibility, evidentiary and appeals processes for SSD and SSI. Participants will receive printed resource materials, templates and useful guides, as well as the opportunity to review SSA’s adult mental and physical impairment criteria.

Disability benefits ARE obtainable in the initial stage of the process and are essential to securing ongoing medical care, stable housing, and continued access to services for our clients, patients and family members. Beneficiaries are “consumers” again. These federal and state funds go directly back into the local economy with a positive “ripple” effect that benefits everyone.

Other services we provide:

  • Comprehensive training (SSI Boot Camp) for Social Security Disability (SSD) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claim representation is initially on-site. We come to you. Program development is tailored to your agency’s needs. Nationally acclaimed SOAR (SSI/SSD Outreach, Access, and Recovery) program training and materials are available.
  • On-going program consultation or case specific training up to six months, or longer if requested.
  • Presumptive Medicaid application assistance training.
  • Functional impairment documentation training.
  • Referrals, forms, file, and data management training.
  • Medical records collection and management training.
  • Our A.S.S.I.S.T. program provides direct client representation for severely disabled consumers.

Getting it right the first time is our motto!
